Stop Binge Eating

A good way to start is to stop binge eating any unhealthy foods. Go through your home and discard any junk food that you find. Replace those junk foods with healthier choices such as fruits and vegetables. Until you can overcome your emotional or compulsive eating habit, consuming healthier foods will keep you from packing on the pounds.

And if you feel like you just have to absolutely have something and can’t stop the food craving, then make your choice a healthy one instead of reaching for junk food. Try chewing gum – you can use this to your advantage to trick your mind into thinking that you’re eating. Again, keep the choice healthy by choosing the sugar free kind.

Another simple trick to help you stop binge eating, is to consume higher quantities of water everyday. The standard consumption amount is roughly 8-12 glasses per day. By filling your stomach up with water, you won’t feel quite as hungry. Drink water in between meals and again right before you have a meal. Don’t try to fill up on unhealthy drinks such as soda. Make water your only healthy choice.

A great wy to break the habit of compulsive overeating is to eat 5 small meals at regular intervals of the day instead of the conventional 3 heavy meals a day. A good rule of thumb is to eat a satisfying meal every 3 to 4 hours.

Binge eating can and will often begin as a result of one being bored. If you find yourself bored and wanting to pass the time by eating food, remember to try the chewing gum method. Alternatively, try to find an activity to focus your mind and keep from reaching for something to munch on. Exercise is a good way to divert your attention. Going for a short walk is not only good for you, but it will get you out of the house and away from the food. Once you are engaged in an activity, you will find that your desire to eat has vanished if you weren’t truly hungry to begin with.
