Drug rehab is a common term today; this could be tracked down from the unfortunate increase of people taking drugs and becoming drug addicts. Therefore, to overcome this ongoing issue, institutions have come up with all possible treatments for people who are suffering from taking drug abusively. Drugs abuse is also known as substance abuse depending on the usage and other related factors. No matter what type of drug is uses, including alcohol intake, this should be considered as one of the phases of drug abuse. Anything related to intoxication should be considered as drug abuse or substance abuse in some degree. A person who undergoes severe changes physically or psychically due to their consummation of the drugs or alcohol, they must undergo drug rehab. By doing this, a person can change his habits and stop the intake of the abused substances.
Remember, an inpatient drug rehab is also referred to a residential drug rehab.
There are two major types of rehab programs. When a person seeks help from drug rehab center, he or she has to go under various procedures. Depending on a person’s condition and the chronic type, the two methods are applied. They are inpatient drug rehab and outpatient drug rehab. Similarly, there are similarities of inpatient and outpatient drug rehab seekers. The common similarities of inpatient and outpatient are as follows:
Ø Common characteristics seen in both types of patients
Ø Individual and group therapy (counseling) are applied to both
Ø Couple therapy and family therapy are included
Ø Session and discussion about the nature of addiction including the symptoms and the results are discussed openly in the presence of the patient (s)
Ø Goal settings and analyzing process of monitoring certain goals are carried out.
The difference between inpatient and outpatient are as follows:
Inpatient drug rehab: This is mostly done when a person is a chronic drug in taker. It means whoever takes drugs who has a relatively long history of constant drug consumption. Inpatients are admitted in a facility for an extended amount of time and the most successful one are where the persons can stay till they have completely resolved their drug problems. Inpatient drug rehab is preferred as it allows the addict to disconnect completely from the environment where he/she became dependent to drugs or alcohol in the first place, which brings a better chance for a positive outcome – an individual freed from drug addiction for the rest of their life.
Outpatient drug rehab may be successful for people who are not severely addicted and who are really determined to kick the habit. The outpatient will be constantly teased to go back to drug consumption during therapy as he will find himself in environments and with people associated with his addiction.
