Diabetes is a disease that is the result of your body not producing enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by your body that helps to turn sugars into energy. The symptoms of diabetes are increased thirst, increased urination, constant hunger, weight loss, irritability, blurred vision, and fatigue. While each symptom alone is harmless, the combination of symptoms could mean that you have diabetes. And, if left untreated, diabetes can become a serious illness and can put you at a higher risk for other, more serious illnesses, such as heart disease and stroke.

Diabetes or madhumeh as per ayurveda is a disease in which there is improper functioning of insulin and as a result sugar level in the blood increases. Diabetes may cause heart problem, kidney failure, blurred vision if not treated timely. Diabetes is a lifelong, chronic health condition, in which the body is unable to break down sugar so the sugar levels are high in the blood, and also can’t produce insulin or have resistance to insulin and therefore loses energy. It is also caused due to increase production of glucose level in the blood vessels and less production of glucose in the body, and also caused due to infections caused by viruses.

One diabetes treatment and prevention factor is diet and exercise. The habits you develop with regard to exercise and diet can dramatically improve diabetes, minimize complications, and control your blood sugar. The best thing about diet and exercise as a diabetes treatment is that it can also prevent diabetes in some cases as well. By introducing a healthy diet to your lifestyle, you can control the levels of sugar in your blood, as well as take steps to prevent further complications from the condition. Obesity is one of the most common causes of developing diabetes. Losing weight can help in controlling the condition and living a better life. If you need help, your physician can recommend a program or dietitian to help you gain control over your eating habits.
